WHO Web-based Consultation on WHO Health Sector Strategy for HIV/AIDS 2011-2015

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a web-based consultation to seek input on the development of the WHO Global Health Sector Strategy for HIV/AIDS, 2011-2015. The Sixty-third Session of the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution requesting that the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General develop a WHO HIV/AIDS Strategy for 2011-2015, through a broad consultative process.
 
You are invited to provide your feedback on the consultation materials found on the WHO web site. These materials will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Comments should be submitted by 31 August using this online form. Where possible, please submit your comments in English to facilitate the synthesis of all inputs.

Recruitment of Programme Coordinator within Public Health Programme

Soros Foundation-Moldova (FSM) announces recruitment of programme coordinator within Public Health Programme. The programme coordinator, under direct supervision of the Public Health Programme Director, will contribute to elaboration, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the projects/activities in area of public health with focus on mental health, palliative care and law and health.

Requirements:

• Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
• Compulsory knowledge of Romanian, English and Russian;
• Higher medical degree and/or in public health.

Training “Introduction in Epidemiology and HIV/AIDS Surveillance”

The training on epidemiology and surveillance is organized in order to ensure an efficient national response, consolidate the surveillance, collection, analysis and data use system in the process of planning strategically the national HIV/AIDS surveillance system. The event is aimed at learning the definitions and basic concepts of public health surveillance and the correlation with the monitoring and evaluation system.

 
The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Lev Zohrabyan, representative of Regional Support Team for Europe and Central Asia and national facilitators. UNAIDS Moldova ensures technical and logistical assistance in organization of the event.

International AIDS Society - AIDS 2010 Youth Programme

The International AIDS Society (IAS) and its Austrian and international partners calls to young people to participate in the XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010), to be held in Vienna, Austria, from 18 to 23 July 2010.

The aim of the IAS Youth Programme is to work to strengthen the participation of young people and the profile of youth issues at AIDS 2010

Training Course “HIV Surveillance in High-Risk Groups”

June 1–5, 2010
Croatia, Zagreb

The WHO Collaborating Centre for Capacity Building in HIV Surveillance has the pleasure of announcing a new training course on HIV Surveillance in High-Risk Groups, aimed to provide participants with the knowledge on how to implement HIV surveillance among groups at higher risk for HIV acquisition and transmission.
                          
The course starts with a brief introduction to the 2nd generation HIV/AIDS surveillance and then proceeds to describe activities that are part of planning of the surveillance system development. The course will be conducted in English, with simultaneous translation for Russian speaking participants.
